TEMPLE DESCRIPTION
Kokkaraniyil Sree Bhagavathy Temple, located in Kozhukkallur, Kerala, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagavathi. HISTORY
This temple is very old and important to the people of Kozhukkallur. It is believed that the temple has the strong divine power and presence (Chaithanyam) of Mundayaparambu Bhagavathy. The temple also plays a big role in protecting our old traditions and ancient temple arts like Thira and Vellattam.
FESTIVALS - THIRA MAHOLSAVAM
Thira Maholsavam is a traditional and grand festival celebrated at Kokkaraniyil Sree Bhagavathy Temple. During this week-long festival, various colorful and vibrant performances of traditional art forms like Vellattam and Thira are held to entertain and invoke blessings from the deities. The major highlights include Bhagavathy Thira and Gulikan Thira. The festival is also marked by traditional rituals such as Kodiyettam, Sarpabali, Guruthi, and a grand Thalappoli accompanied by spectacular Chenda Melam. Alongside the religious ceremonies, the temple also organizes cultural events like Mega Thiruvathira and Thayambaka.
